If you expect the term “valuable” means 200M+ then do not proceed, because you will be frustrated.
Because I will mention some of youngstars who may not be so exciting in transfermarket but will be very valuable for their team and their philosophy.
We know mainly attacking players (CAMs, Strikers,Wingers) are very valuable in transfer market but players like Defender, CDM are always ignored. So if you choose players by tons of goals and assists you can be biased.
My selections are-
- Riqui Puig (Barcelona)
La Masia star Riqui Puig is the future of the Catalan club.
Despite only playing 45 minutes in the club’s last International Champions Cup match, his performance drew much attention to the fact that Puig could be an up and coming star at Barcelona.
Puig’s exquisite performance on the field against the Italians did not just result in Ernesto Valverde praising the player but also had the Milan coach gushing about the 18-year-old, describing the midfielder as a “spectacular footballer.”
If Riqui Puig continues at this rate, he can surely become the next big midfield talent at Barcelona. May be INIESTA 2.0!
2. Arthur Melo (Barcelona)
An underlying driving factor in Barcelona’s rising interest in Arthur is his versatility in the midfield. He plays the central midfield position but can also alternate deep as an attacking midfielder or back along the opposing forwards as a central defensive midfielder. He can be control possession whether it is on the left, middle or right side of the pitch. While he has played the vast majority of games as a central midfielder, he is also comfortable rotating to other midfield positions.
“I’m a player who likes to have the ball at my feet and organise play. As a defensive midfielder, I see more of the ball, further back.”
His biggest strength as a midfielder is evidently his passing game. As a central midfielder, Arthur occupies a heavy amount of possession per game.He has even completed at least 100 passes twice this season, a Xavi-esque statistic.
Though he was bought in Barcelona as a replacement of Iniesta, I belive he is much more like clone of Xavi. He needs time only.
3. Phil Foden (Man City)
There is an area of the midfield England lack in: the creator, the number 10. A Christian Eriksen, a David Silva or Kevin De Bruyne.
Enter Phil Foden. Russia 2018 will come too early for him, as he only made his first start for City in December. Such is his talent, however, it is only a matter of time.
“He is a special player,” says Pep Guardiola.
He showed that at the Under-17 World Cup in India, which Foden helped England win, picking up the player of the tournament in the process. He largely played on the right but his future is in the middle, offering a cutting edge in the final third.
4. Leon Goretzka (Bayern)
He is perhaps the greatest asset to a side when he is allowed the simultaneous freedom and responsibility of covering the pitch from end to end. It is for the this reason that the German youngster is best utilized in a box-to-box central midfield role. This sees him at his best making positive driving runs at the opposition’s end of the pitch, contributing to the attack as either an outlet to score or being a source of distribution for his teammates around him.
5. Benjamin Mendy (Man City)
Like Alba, he can also be caught out too far upfield if the opposition break at pace, his marauding instincts perhaps needing to be curbed to make him the full package.
He is excellent when in possession of the football and is rarely wasteful when finding a team-mate. An ability to stand tall and not dive in at every opportunity are also meritous.
6. Kylian Mbappé (PSG)
I don’t include him in this shortlist for his price tag, I include him because I believe after 5 years he will be the best player in the world,if not best then one of the best.
7. Ousmane Dembélé (Barcelona)
Another great player with full of potential. If he gets proper time he will be very valuable for Barcelona.
Dembélé can best be described as a skillful, creative winger who is at his most effective in one-on-one situations. He can be a real nightmare for opposition full backs, as he is very skilled in dribbling past opponent.
Dembélé’s most evident strength is without a doubt his dribbling ability. He has shown time and again to be capable of drawing defenders in and skipping past them with pace. In addition to being a wonderful dribbler, Dembélé also has a great understanding of the game in terms of his positioning and his movement.
Besides Mbappe, others have to prove themselves valuable to their team. They all are full of potential but need enough time.
