Why did cricket fail to become a sport of international attention like football

• Because Cricket’s match duration is too long.Even the shortest format of cricket(T20)is too long to watch.But one football match takes maximum of 2 hrs 30 mins to finish(half time break,additional time,extra time break etc,).The longest format of cricket i.e. Test match takes maximum of 5 days to finish.That’s why Football is more popular than Cricket.
• Because Football is easy to understandFootball is easy to understand as there are very few rules to understand as compared to Cricket. In Football you need to understand very few rules to understand the game such as Offside,goal,hand ball,goal kick etc. But in cricket you need to understand very huge amount of rules such as leg byes,byes,no ball,obstructing the field,four,six,wide ball and so on.According to Wikipedia,Cricket officially has 42 laws as compared to Football’s 17.
• Cricket is affected by Weather FactorsHow many times you have heard that Football match is cancelled due to weather factors.Cricket is affected by rain,lightning etc. Many spectators come from long distance to watch the match of their favourite team but what when the match is cancelled due to rain or other factors.

• It doesn’t matter which sport is popular but if you are addicted to a certain sport,you love it more than other popular sports.
