At most, a player will carry two tennis balls on them at any given time. Men typically keep them in pockets, while women will tuck them into tight ball shorts. Some skirts or tennis shorts will have designated pockets for women.
Tennis skirt with ball pocket
I had a skirt similar to the one above and the ball pocket took too much time to use efficiently.
A professional tennis player will typically only have one tennis ball on them at any given time, excluding the tennis ball they are serving with. Of course, if they had more than two tennis balls on them, that could become a disadvantage, as it makes sprinting and moving more difficult, but that’s why there are ball boys and ball girls at professional tournaments, in addition to only 3 tennis balls maximum being able to be played at any given time.
They don’t slow you down, but if they fall out of a pocket or shorts, they can be a safety hazard.
