How is it possible to recognise someone who takes steroids?

Well, you can and you can’t. When people hear “on steroids” they tend to get this image:
But this person was caught using steroids… multiple times.
That’s Anderson Silva. A champion UFC fighter. Does he look like he works out? Yeah. Does he look like the juice head everyone thinks of when they hear the word steroids? No.
We’ve seen dozens of cases in the UFC where someone was caught using anabolic steroids but looked like the average joe off the street. Then you’ve got guys with great genetics who have a significant amount of muscle who’ve never touched drugs.
It’s a lot easier to tell with women since they begin to take on androgenic (masculine) features (wider jawline, deeper voice, etc…)
Telling if someone is on steroids is a classic case of two things being true at once. If someone is as large as the guy in the first photo I posted, then you can safely assume he’s used drugs. Gaining THAT much muscle is beyond the genetic potential of any human. But, a person not being gigantic doesn’t necessarily mean they’re clean either.
