How concerned should Nike and EA be about the Ronaldo allegations

The Messy Ronaldo rape scandal which is making the tabloids worldwide should really be of concern to both Nike and EA, and as they study the case very closely, they will give their verdict in the coming days.
Ronaldo's lifetime endorsement with Nike is already on the lifeline.
It is reportedly worth $1b (£750m), and it as signed on September 2016.
How concerned should Nike be?
They are already monitoring the situation closely and Ronaldo should be lucky if Nike decides to keep the life contract signed two years ago.
But if he's found guilty at the end, then Nike will have to withdraw the billion dollar conttact- Who wants to loose such money.
And it might likely cause a domino effect which will see all other sponsors drop their multi million pounds contract with the Portuguese international ace and soccer global icon.
Already Juventus shares have dropped to £1.95 (22%) last weekend after fans accused the board of protecting their superstar.
He has a £23m a year contract with the Bianconeri ( a staggering £520k per week salary)

OTHER BRANDS
  • There's an undisclosed deal with EA sport worth millions already signed and they might removed his poster from the front page. The gaming champion is seriously monitoring the rape scandal as well as Nike.
  • His long running multi million pounds contract with Herbalife until 2021 might be affected.
  • Tag Heuer long sponsorship deal brings him a £800k per annum.
  • What about his Mega contract with American Tourister worth £300k a year.

TOO BIG TO FAIL
As much as the big companies will not hesitate to drop him, they also realize the big dough CR7 brings for them and as the world most influential sportsman alive, they will still want to keep him around.
His social media posts are credited with making his sponsors above £700m in 2017.( who wants to loose such money).
He made a total of 53 post on Instagram, and his Herbalife single post rakes £400k, the highest any single celebrity could ever make.
Little wonder millions have been set aside to hire the best lawyers, attorneys, forensic experts and PR to make sure he wins the case.
Cristiano Ronaldo is becoming a case of “too big to fail” as his different sponsors and all social media including Facebook can't afford to see this global icon lose his popularity a d the money he brings for them.
Little wonder we see him smiling at the Juventus training ground this weekend amidst all the drama this scandals is causing and still posing with beautiful shots with his son and girlfriend.

Lessons from other athletes
  • Kobe Bryant was accused of sexual assault in 2003 (though the accuser later refused to testify in court). His sponsors split; McDonald and Nutrlla dropped him,Nike and Sprite stuck with him. But he has bounced back from that.
  • Boxing legend, Iron Mike Tyson lost fortune when Pepsi ditched him after he was found guilty of abusing former wife Robin Givens in 1988.
  • Tiger Woods smashed his wife's car with a golf club in 2009. What happened layer- Gillette and Tag Heuer left, Nike stayed.
  • Lance Armstrong doping scandal rocked the cycling world. Not only did Nike dropped him but he lost a reported £150m.
Conclusion:
Ronaldo earns a lot and spends a lot as his serious cars collection proves- Maserati and Lamborghini Aventador £250k, not to mention his £2.5m Bugatti, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce and Bentley.
A £4m villa in Madrid and £15m apartment in Trump Tower in New York city.
His own brand CR7 is valued by marketing experts at £70m.
His personal fortune is above £350m.
Will he lose most of these and his flashy lifestyle?
Will Nike, EA sports protect their “too big to fail” superstar?
Only time will tell.
