What are the biggest mistakes that cost the World Cup in cricket?

  • South Africa batted so skillfully and put a total of 271 on the board.
  • Herschelle Gibbs was the leading man scoring 101 in a high-pressure game.

  • Looking at the bowling attack SA had, comprising of Shaun Pollock and Allen Donald, the team could have been defended. Nonetheless, it could be turned out as a close tight thriller match.
  • SA was cruising towards defending the score until 31st over bowled by Lance Klusner.
  • Australian skipper Steve Waugh tried to hit it towards the mid-wicket.
  • And to his misfortune, One of the best fielders of proteas, Herschelle Gibbs was fielding at mid-wicket. It was an easy catch and Gibbs was supposed to grab it easily.
  • But, Gibbs dropped the catch and misfortune for Waugh turned out like a fortune![1] [2]
