Great Question. Was Abdul Razzaq a better all-rounder than Imran Khan?
One is quite a good player and the other a Legend.
I think that says one thing, but does not necessarily answer your question.
Imran Khan is a legend, a great bowler and an almost world class batsman when top order players in England and Australia were surviving on averages in the 30’s Imran was right there also.
As a Pakistani captain he was very good and led them to being Champions of the 1992 world cup.
In test matches only, lets look at them then.
Imran Khan
Batting Avg 37.69
Bowling Avg 22.81
Batting Avg 37.69
Bowling Avg 22.81
Abdul Razzaq
Batting Avg 28.61
Bowling Avg 36.94
Batting Avg 28.61
Bowling Avg 36.94
Seems pretty clear Imran would have made it into the team on his bowling only. Abdul would not have.
Batting in the late 70’s & 80’s was hard what with the WI Fast bowlers yet Imran was averaging 37.69 , when we look at Razzaq in an era without the quality of fast bowling that Imran faced, Abdul averages only 28.61
So nope in my opinion while Razzaq was an honest hard working cricketer that did well for Pakistan, he was average, not the best nor the worst.
Imran on the other hand had above average skill with bat and most of all ball. Also not to forget he was a great leader and exuded confidence and machismo.
A mans man.
IMO - Imran Khan is a better all-rounder that Abdul Razzaq, but that takes nothing away from Razzaqs achievements while in the Pakistan team.
